Connecting to the network & web services

Student Wi-Fi & students in residences - TCDconnect
Students with privately-owned devices that meet the general requirements may connect to the College network via the TCDconnect service in order to connect to the student wireless network or the wired network in College residences
Staff & postgraduates in College offices and labs
Staff and postgraduate students with devices that meet the general requirements may connect to the wired network in College offices and labs. Staff and postgraduates requiring connection to the College network in these areas must request a network connection.
Staff may also request connection to the staff wireless network in the same manner. Postgraduates requiring connection to the student wireless network must use the TCDconnect service.
Staff wishing to connect a server to the College network should refer to our documentation regarding server procurement and setup.
Visitors requiring network connection
Short-term authorised guests can connect their personal laptop to the guest wireless internet access service or the eduroam service, if eligible.
Duration of network connection
Staff and Postgraduate connections to the standard teaching and research network in College offices and labs last indefinitely.
Web services
When you connect your computer to the College network or when using a computer in the College computer rooms you gain access to your College email, the internet and to other College network facilities including your personal filestorage area. In order to login to the College network you need your College username and network login password. These are provided to students at registration or to any student or staff member on presenting your ID card at the IS Services Helpdesk. All users of the College network are required to agree to the networking terms and conditions.
